The voice trainer is the product of Sarah James' 20 years of experience and enthusiasm as a teacher and performer. Though a keen music student, Sarah studied languages for her first degree, and pursued a career initially as a business language trainer in Paris before demand for her singing talents forced a change of path. There followed 15 years of touring worldwide and recording as singer songwriter with Two Timers. She has performed on major stages throughout Europe as guest of acts such as Maceo Parker,The Corrs, John Mayall and Status Quo. She has been nominated 3 times for UK Blues singer of the year award.
Intensive tour schedules require careful voice management and Sarah sought help from a wide range of voice teachers over the years. Taking the advice of singer Sam Brown she studied Estill Voicecraft, an invaluable resource for speech therapists and singing teachers based on the anatomy of the voice, under the direction of Paul Carrington. She regularly attends Estill workshops to pool teaching ideas.
A firm believer in lifelong learning Sarah is currently completing an MA in Voice Studies at the Central School of Speech and Drama, London where she worked as Voice Director with actors on Central's MA Classical Acting Shakespeare productions.
She has also compiled courses and workshops in singing and songwriting for schools in the U.K, and toured Belgium for Les Jeunesses Musicales, a cultural exchange organisation promoting musical awareness for young people.
In addition she studied musical composition at Sussex University and sound recording techniques and continues to write and arrange music.
She was head of singing at Brighton's Rockskool for 4 years and teaches both adults and young people in groups and one-to-one.
