Thevoicetrainer.co.uk is the product of Sarah James' 20 years of experience and enthusiasm as a teacher and performer. Though a keen music student, Sarah studied languages for her first degree, and pursued a career initially as a business language trainer in Paris before demand for her singing talents forced a change of path. There followed 15 years of touring worldwide and recording as singer songwriter with Two Timers. She has performed on major stages throughout Europe and beyond as guest of acts such as Maceo Parker,The Corrs, John Mayall and Status Quo. She has been nominated 3 times for UK Blues singer of the year award.

Intensive tour schedules require careful voice management, and Sarah drew knowledge from a wide range of voice teachers and mentors from the industry. Taking the advice of singer Sam Brown she studied Estill Voicecraft, an invaluable resource for speech therapists and singing teachers based on the anatomy of the voice, under the direction of Anne-Marie Speed (Royal Academy of Music).

A firm believer in lifelong learning, Sarah holds an MA with Distinction in Voice Studies from the Central School of Speech and Drama, London, and is committed to maximizing student engagement with learning. She worked as Voice Director with actors on Central's MA Classical Acting Shakespeare productions and currently teaches singing, speech and accents at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, The Central School of Speech and Drama, The London School of Dramatic Art and London Metropolitan University. She leads the Spoken Voice Choir research project for the International Centre For Voice.

Sarah is a member of Equity, the British Voice Association,ICV and VASTA.
